Operation in CDMX dismantles Sinaloa Cartel network

Four people, allegedly linked to a cell of the Sinaloa Cartel, were arrested in a joint operation carried out in the Iztacalco and Xochimilco neighborhoods of Mexico City (CDMX) on Thursday. Authorities, in collaboration with various security forces from the capital and the Army, executed two search warrants in different homes in both areas. Over 600 doses of marijuana and cocaine, as well as firearms, were seized at these locations.

Pablo Vázquez Camacho, head of the SSC-CDMX, communicated these actions through his social media, where he shared images and a video of the searches, as well as the detainees (two men and two women) who are now at the disposal of the corresponding Public Prosecutor's Office. Vázquez Camacho indicated: 'We will continue with operational actions and inter-institutional work with the Government and the Public Prosecutor's Office of CDMX to apprehend those who commit crimes that harm the citizenry.'

According to a statement from the Secretary of Citizen Security, the searches took place in homes in Iztacalco and Xochimilco that were likely used for the storage and packaging of drugs. After collecting evidence, a Control Judge issued the orders for intervention in both properties. In the first home, a 27-year-old woman was arrested and various substances were secured. In the second location, a 43-year-old woman and two men aged 21 and 49, respectively, were arrested, seizing more drugs and firearms.

The SSC-CDMX emphasized that the operation was conducted without violence and in compliance with police protocols and individual guarantees.

Since taking office, Claudia Sheinbaum has prioritized the dismantling of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico, achieving significant blows to the criminal organization. Among the notable arrests is Hernán Domingo Ojeda, known as 'El Mero Mero', and Edwin Antonio Rubio, nicknamed 'El Max and/or El Oso'. Additionally, Omar Félix Loaiza, alias 'El Pelón and/or El 8', was detained for his alleged participation in criminal activities linked to the cartel.
